“If I could write my own epitaph and had to choose between ‘here lies a president’ or ‘here lies one who contributed to saving freedom,’ I would prefer the latter” Wendell Willkie (1940 Republican Presidential nominee)
Liberals protest fanatically when their patriotism is challenged. Yet, on the sixth anniversary of 9-11 most Americans remember that 3,000 innocent fellow citizens perished at the hands of al-Qaeda. Instead of reverence for those lost and commitment to vanquish the enemy, liberals engage in rhetoric and conduct that aids the enemy. That’s treason.
While General Patraeus was reporting to Congress on the status of the “surge”, liberal Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) was in Syria blasting George Bush’s illegal occupation of Iraq on Syrian TV. Instead of reasonable dialogue, Hillary and her liberal comrades slithered out from under their rocks to spew their venom. They vilified and impugned the reputation and integrity of an honorable man offering an objective report of the current status of the war in Iraq.
Liberals boldly telegraphed their treason. Anticipating a positive report Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) admitted a good report would be “a real big problem for us.” Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) stated, “Let me be clear. The violence in Anbar has gone down despite the surge, not because of the surge. The inability of American soldiers to protect these tribes from Al-Qaeda said to these tribes, We have to fight Al-Qaeda ourselves. It wasn’t that the surge brought peace here. It was that the warlords took peace here, created a temporary peace here.” The Gobbelisque liberal mantra is warlords achieved peace because Petraeus and the US Military are inept. That’s disgraceful!
Liberals in Congress joined the chorus of disgrace.
- Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA): As for my own view; this war is the biggest foreign policy mistake ever; because it strained our military; we’ve lost the support of the world.
- Rep. Robert Wexler (D-FL): The surge has failed based on most parameters. Cherry-picking statistics or selectively massaging information will not change the basic truth; I am skeptical general.
- Rep. Tom Lantos (D-CA): The fact remains that the administration has sent you here today to convince the members of Congress that victory is at hand; I don”t buy it.
Lest not forget that impugning the military that provide liberals the freedom to demonstrate ignorance and treason is not a new phenomenon.
Sen. John Kerry (D-MA): That young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the historical customs, religious customs, whether you like it or not. Sen. Kerry, Durbin and Kennedy claimed our running of Abu Ghraib prison was no different than a change of management. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) compared U.S. Military interrogators and personnel in uniform to Pol Pot”s thugs, Soviet gulag operators, and Nazi soldiers. Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) accused US soldiers of murder in Haditha based on allegations that lacked any credible evidence and charges have since been dropped. Sen. Reid (D-NV) claiming “the war is lost”.
Rep. Gary Ackerman (D-NY) tried to promote the liberal fraud by asking Patraeus, “Isn”t it true, General, Al-Qaeda in Iraq formed in 2005?” It should not matter, but the fact is that al-Qaeda was officially in Iraq shortly after the invasion. As General Patraeus explained we are fighting the Al-Qaeda network in Iraq.
Liberals fraudulently promote the conflict is merely an Iraqi civil war. In July 2007, captured senior al-Qaeda leader in Iraq, Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, admitted that al-Qaeda in Iraq is not a homegrown insurgency, they specifically make it look like there”s a civil war in Iraq when there is not and insurgents that they are recruiting are coming from the larger al-Qaeda network in Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Jordan.
Ayman al-Zawahiri recognizes the contribution of al-Qaeda’s liberal allies. In December 2006, he said, “Democrats are not the ones who won the midterm election, nor are the Republicans the ones who lost. Rather the Mujahideen, the Muslim Ummah’s vanguard in Afghanistan and Iraq, are the ones who won, and the American forces and their Crusader allies are the ones who lost.” In July 2007 he said al-Qaeda’s long-term goals for Iraq are to make Iraq an Islamic state and to use it to establish a caliphate of Islamic rule across the region.
Liberals either ignore or rewrite history. Liberals have forgotten the jumpers from the WTC. Hatred for President Bush dictates political ambitions overpower patriotism. While General Patraeus and President Bush strive for victory, liberals strive for political power by investing in American defeat. Sadly, liberals are patriots of Liberalism first and hell bent on assisting al-Qaeda to further their quest for power.
