“Character is higher than intellect. A great soul will be strong to live as well as think” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Liberalism has become a religion wrought with mindless emotionalism, moral decay and intellectual dishonesty. Its primary goal is political power and enabling Liberals to “feel” good about themselves in their arrogance.
The disingenuousness of liberalism could not have been better demonstrated than by awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to the environmental charlatan, former V.P. Al Gore. Then the Nobel committee compounds this travesty by basing their decision on his fraudulent movie, “The Inconvenient Truth”, and his promotion of the man-made global warming hoax.
Gore has little interest in saving the earth from any global warming, his interest is getting rich. Through his London based firm, Generation Investment Management, he is promoting a carbon offset marketing gimmick called “cap-and-trade”. The plan is to have government force a “cap” on private-sector emissions of CO2 and other “greenhouse gases”. Businesses that emit less than their allocation can sell their excess credits and Gore’s firm brokers the deal. There is no change in the actual amount of emissions.
It’s just another liberal fraud. Thus proving the Nobel Peace prize has become a joke and only relevant among the liberal congregation.
The Nobel Peace Prize was created by Alfred Nobel, ironically the inventor of dynamite and military munitions, to be awarded to “the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.”
Anyone who would say Gore met these requirements is either ignorant or dishonest. Awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to Gore proves it is becoming a joke. Think not? The history of the Nobel Peace Prize establishes its path from a noble award to irrelevance.
Here is a partial list of its recipients since its beginning in 1901:
- 1906 – President Theodore Roosevelt for his role in peace treaty collaborations
- 1919 – President Woodrow Wilson for helping create the League of Nations
- 1929 – Frank B. Kellogg for the Kellogg-Briand Pact renouncing war
- 1952 – Albert Schweitzer for his work in establishing medical care in Africa
- 1959 – Philip Noel-Baker, a British peace activist critical of munitions manufacturers
- 1973 – Henry Kissinger and North Vietnam’s Le Duc Tho for the Vietnam peace accord
Now, while I have serious disagreements with the idea that any of these recipients actually achieved peace and some like Kellogg and Briand, Kissinger and Tho actually fomented war and mass murder. But, one can not dispute the appearance of their work toward peace, no matter how misguided.
Along with Al Gore, other notable nominees illustrate its progression to an insignificant joke. In 1939, Adolf Hitler was nominated by a brainless socialist, wanting to feel compassionate no doubt. Not to be outdone, other “liberals” nominated Benito Mussolini, Joseph Stalin, Neville Chamberlin and Cindy Sheehan.
Here is a few that were actually given the award:
- 1990 – Mikhail Gorbachev for his efforts in peacemaking but not President Ronald Reagan
- 1992 – Guatemalan Marxist activist Rigoberta Menchu, despite the fraudulence of her claims
- 1993 – South African Frederik de Klerk shared the prize with Communist Nelson Mandela
- 1994 – PLA terrorist Yasser Arafat shared it with Israeli’s Shimon Peres and Yitzhak Rabin
- 2002 – Jimmy Carter for his failed efforts to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts
- 2004 – Kenyan activist Wangari Maathai for her encouraging women to plant trees in Africa
Compounding the committee’s excursion into the superfluous, here are some deserving nominees that were passed over for the fraudulent hoaxer Gore. Lida Yusupova who faced death threats while devoting her life in the struggle for human rights in Chechnya. Buddhist monk Thich Quang Do, currently under house arrest, spent a lifetime fighting for peace and freedom in Vietnam. Polish Holocaust heroine Irene Sendler nominated for her role in saving 2,500 Jewish children from the Nazis in Warsaw during World War II. These all lost to the pathetic Al Gore for his life-threatening promotion of disingenuous claims of man-made global warming.
Awarding a Nobel Peace Prize to a hypocrite like Al Gore is not only an injustice to the many people bravely fighting for peace and freedom throughout the world, but once again demonstrates the lack of values, the moral indecency and intellectual bankruptcy of Liberalism.
