This quote has been used to explain the various alliances in Middle East conflicts. A review of history will find these alliances are fluid, depend on who is the enemy, the degree of hatred and what is the desired final outcome. The recent conflict between Israel and Hezbollah is a prime example of this fluidity. The Arabs have not allied with their old enemy Persia in this battle against Jews. Arabs see Iran as the bigger threat. Then there is the union between the Hezbollah and Iran with liberals and the liberal media.
Let’s examine this unholy alliance. President Bush, capitalism and Christianity is the common enemy. The degree of hatred is extreme. The desired outcome is the destruction of President Bush and establishment of power or control of government. For their part, liberals and the liberal media have employed misinformation, lies and propaganda as the primary strategy to achieve their goal.
This strategy is evident in the reporting on the Israeli-Hezbollah conflict. Liberals attempt to legitimize Hezbollah by referring to them as guerrilla fighters and militia instead of terrorist. They only mention that Hezbollah started the war, has launched over 3,000 Katyusha rockets against Israel, fail to emphasize these rockets have been converted to kill civilians and minimize the killing of innocent Israelis civilians.
Conversely liberal media hypes Israeli tactics in prosecuting the war by repetitively reporting attacks on Hezbollah positions with exaggerated accounts of destruction and civilian casualties. The liberal media would lead one to believe that entire cities have been bombed or destroyed. But maps identifying areas attacked show Israelis only attack specific sections Hezbollah controls and uses to execute the war.
This is not new to the liberal media. It has a well established track record for falsely reporting events in a way that will promote the agenda of harming President Bush or America. The biased or false reports about the “Jenin Massacre”, Guantanamo prisoner violations, Hurricane Katrina, or Haditha and refusing to report the many positive stories in Iraq are prime examples.
Or take the liberal media exaggeration of the Israeli attack on Qana in Lebanon. It is a propaganda blitz with repetitive photos of rubble and claims of women and children killed while they slept. Yet, there is significant evidence to support this event was staged and perpetrated by Hezbollah and sold by the liberal media. An excellent expose of this event can be read at excellent expose of this event can be read at http://eureferendum.blogspot.com/2006/07/milking-it.html
Issues avoided include the Israeli strike occurred around midnight and the building didn’t collapse until at least 6 hours later. Why didn’t the occupants exit the building before it collapsed? Considering that Hezbollah is embedded in the Lebanese civilian population, exactly how many casualties were really innocent civilians and how many were terrorists? The media quotes a civil defense official, Abu Shadi Jradi, as saying the bodies of 27 children were found in the rubble and in support of the claim they repeat different photos of the same children. They report, “the dead were old people, women and children from four families.” Yet, some photos of injured were of healthy adult males. Also, Israeli photos showing rockets being fired from this location is not get much press by the liberal media.
In war, both sides lay claims of propaganda by the enemy. Some truths can be found in assertions of both sides. Justification will depend on conduct and maybe historical context. To discern the side whose actions are more justified takes objective analysis. Today “free nations” are in a global war with Islamic Fundamental extremist. The enemy has declared they are in a “clash of civilizations”.
Israel, Iraq and Afghanistan are merely battlefields in this war and the victory is the only option. Conservatives know it, terrorist know it and liberals deny it. Since the facts refute liberal beliefs they rely on propaganda to win a “P.R. war” and this war is won by the overwhelming use of propaganda. If liberals and terrorist win the “P.R. war” and Israel and the US lose the ongoing “real” battles, the terrorist will sense weakness and up the ante. By then the tactics of warfare will undoubtedly escalate to include nuclear options.
